Bacterial Cellulose-Carboxymethyl Cellulose (BC:CMC) dry formulation as stabilizer and texturizing agent for surfactant-free cosmetic formulations

چکیده
Generic cosmetic creams (oil-in-water emulsions) were prepared using dry Bacterial Cellulose and Carboxymethyl (BC:CMC) to study the possibility of partially or completely replacing surfactants, while ensuring a long-term stability required organoleptic characteristics. BC:CMC was benchmarked against two hydrocolloidal Avicel products (PC-591 PC-611), commonly used as thickeners stabilizing aids in cosmetics production. The emulsions then characterized regarding storage stability, rheology, texture microscopic features. full replacement 5.5 % surfactants with only 0.75 consistently showed similar results those obtained namely concerning viscosity texture. Although producing larger oil droplets, provided for very effective stabilization through Pickering effect by structuring continuous phase. more tested (PC-591) higher concentration (1.5 %) achieve rheological profile but ineffective phase surfactant-free formulation adopted protocol. By matches strong market need since both end users manufacturers increasingly seek natural ingredients formulations.

Carboxymethyl cellulose [C6H7O(OH)3x(OCH2COOH)x]n is a derivative of the regenerated cellulose [C6H10O5]n with hydroxy-acetic acid (hydroxy ethanoic acid) CH2(OH)COOH or sodium monochloroacetate ClCH2COONa. The CMC backbone consist of D-glucose residues linked by -1,4-linkage. The molecular mass of one glucose unit in CMC chain is mCMC = 146.14 + 75.04x, where x 3 is the degree of substitu...

Cellulose fibers were converted into a valuable cellulose derivative, which is easily marketable with additional values. Alkali cellulose and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is the most important cellulose derivatives. Alpha-cellulose was furnished as raw material for production of CMC, which is obtained from short cotton fibers, then purified. Alpha-cellulose is available in the international ma...
متن کاملComposites comprising cholesterol and carboxymethyl cellulose.
Whereby cholesterol presents one of the major fatty substances in human body, carboxymethyl cellulose is a water-soluble derivative of cellulose, the most abundant dietary fiber. Whereas on one hand in vivo precipitation of cholesterol is the major cause of atherosclerosis, dietary fibers are on the other hand known for their ability to clean the fatty plaque deposited on intestinal pathways, a...
متن کاملSynthesis, Characterisation and Flocculation Properties of Carboxymethyl Cellulose-g Acrylamide
Graft copolymers of acrylamide on carboxymethyl cellulose (d.s 0.4-0.5) were prepared by the use of ceric ion, ceric ion/reductant molecule initiator systems in aqueous medium. The graft copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopy. The extent of graft copolymerisation was measured in terms of grafted chains as a function of both ceric ion and ceric ion/reductant molecule concentrations. It...
